• Biography

  Maijala was born out of unlikely circumstance, the union of an ancient Bakeneko and a battle-worn Djinn who managed to escape to his freedom. Not much is known about her parentage, though her centuries of travels have produced small clues over time. Her long journey has filled her life with both wonder and danger. Not everyone wants her to know about her heritage. In her own right, she'd become famous and infamous. Quite the roguish lady, she had developed skills in both real magic, slight of hand, and combat.
  
  These days she chooses to live her long life more quietly, having grown tired of battling those who wish to keep her from discovering whatever dark truths that lay in her parental past. There's much to discover right in front of her, and the small things in life have brought her more joy than weaving spells or tricking her foes.

• Traits & Personality

  When first getting to know Mai, she comes across as quite the social butterfly, knowing just the right words to say, with a soft laugh and knowing smile. She can be cheery, with an easy smile, confident bearing, and charismatic personsality. Yet, when one thinks more upon what they know about her, one would realize she doesn't offer much abot who she is. She is the model gentlewoman, with perhaps a mischievous streak.
  
  Her long years of forced servitude with the richest households taught her to be quite the hostess. After finding freedom (and moving, far, far away), she was reborn, and became a gentlewoman of legend, with parties being the stuff of legend and intrigue. Only the best feasts, the finest wine, and daring entertainment.
  
  Those who knew her better would see that she was a loyal friend and devoted mate. She would drop everything for a friend in need. While bold, enthusiastic, and happy to entertain in public, beneath the surface she was perhaps a bit softer. Her closest friends knew how thoughtful she was. Only her mate knew her darkest secrets, her idea of self image, and thoughts that kept her awake at night.
  
  What came with a long life meant being prone to cynicism. She was slow to anger, but a few specific topics pushed the wrong buttons and would make her snap at someone with nasty words before she caught herself. While passion can be a good trait, she could also be passionately angry, though usually at the proper subjects.
